Claude connector

r.Potential for Claude

The r.Potential connector brings your organization's r.Potential library into Claude. Ask Claude where AI can create value in your business, how your AI hiring compares with your competitors, and how roles across your industry are changing, and Claude answers from your own r.Potential data.

Who can use it

The connector is for organizations that use r.Potential. You sign in with your r.Potential account, and Claude can work with your organization's opportunities and insights in r.Potential. They stay private to your organization: no other company can see them.

What it does

The connector is read-only. It gives Claude six tools:

  • Recommend Units of Potential: The few Units of Potential (specific opportunities for AI in your business) r.Potential ranks highest for your organization, each with a modeled annual dollar range.
  • Get a Unit of Potential in detail: One opportunity in depth: the tasks involved, which roles own them, and whether each task is redeployed, transformed, augmented or left unchanged.
  • Compare our AI hiring to competitors: Your share of AI roles in hiring over the last 12 months against your peers, your rank, and which roles are growing or shrinking.
  • Get industry hiring trends: Hiring demand across your industry over eight quarters, and which roles' tasks are more or less exposed to automation.
  • Check r.Potential connection: Which organization you're connected as. No business data.
  • List r.Potential accounts: The r.Potential accounts you can read. Most organizations have one. No business data.

How to connect

In Claude on the web, desktop or mobile

  1. Open Settings, then Connectors, and find r.Potential.
  2. Click Connect and sign in with your r.Potential account.
  3. If you belong to more than one organization, choose the one to connect, then click Allow.

On Team and Enterprise plans, an owner may first need to add the connector for your organization.

In Claude Code

If you sign in to Claude Code with your Claude account, connectors you added in Claude are already available. You can also add the connector directly (Claude Code 2.1.231 or later):

claude mcp add --transport http --client-id JpHG3zzifBrLMCUH --callback-port 8080 r-potential https://api.rpotential.ai/mcp/library/

Then run /mcp inside Claude Code and sign in.

Things to ask

  • "What are the biggest AI opportunities r.Potential sees for us? Take the top one and walk me through the tasks and roles involved."
  • "How does our AI hiring compare with our competitors over the last year?"
  • "Which roles in our industry are growing fastest, and which are most exposed to automation?"
  • "Put our top opportunity next to our hiring data. Are we hiring for the roles it affects?"

Reading the answers

  • Dollar ranges are modeled estimates for planning, not forecasts. Low and high are scenarios, not a margin of error, so a wide range doesn't mean a riskier opportunity. Don't add ranges together: opportunities can overlap.
  • Every answer lists the sources behind it, and says what it does not contain.
  • The connector can't tell you which AI vendors any company has signed with.
  • Totals, comparisons and other figures Claude works out from these results are Claude's own calculations, not r.Potential's.

Access and privacy

  • You sign in with r.Potential directly; your password is never shared with Claude.
  • If someone is removed from your organization in r.Potential, they lose access through Claude within about a minute.
  • To disconnect, go to Settings, then Connectors, open r.Potential and click Disconnect.
  • How we handle data through the connector: MCP Connector Privacy Notice.

Troubleshooting

  • "Your organization isn't set up with r.Potential yet." The organization you signed in with doesn't have the connector switched on. If you're an r.Potential customer, email us and we'll turn it on; otherwise, request a login.
  • Connected to the wrong organization. If you belong to more than one, disconnect r.Potential and connect again, then choose the right organization on the consent screen.
  • Claude doesn't use r.Potential. Make sure the connector is turned on for the chat, and mention it in your request, for example "Using r.Potential, …".
  • New tools or changes don't appear. Disconnect r.Potential and connect again; Claude then reads the latest version of the connector.
  • Sign-in fails or you see an error. Disconnect, connect again, and sign in with the account you use for r.Potential. If it keeps happening, email us with what you see.
